Left Handed Guitar

If you are one of the left handed people, you may want to know what you should do when you want to learn playing Acoustic and Electric Guitar. Do you need to find a special guitar or you can follow other right handed guitarists? Here are what you can do in order to start playing guitar when you are left handed:

1.  Buy a specially designed guitar for left handed: This can be one of your choice if you are to buy a new guitar.

2.  Modify your existing guitar: The concept of practicing guitar does not change. The first step is to redo all the strings on your guitar. You will need to swab the position of sixth string with the first string and the fifth string with the second string. Some of the guitars you may need to modify the bridge.

3.  Use the right handed guitar: You will have to ignore that you are left handed and work like a right handed.

Playing guitar is not difficult if you have enough efforts no matter who you are. No matter if you are left handed or right handed, there are chances that you can master it as long as you do not give up.

Don’t Learn Left Handed Guitar - Do it the Right Way

By Cody John

The thing I want to say is simply this - Do not learn to play guitar left handed. I am not saying do not learn to play because you are left handed. What I am saying is that all guitar players should learn right handed. There are good reasons for learning to play guitar right handed.

A huge choice of guitars.

If you decide to learn guitar left handed you severely limit your choice of instruments. When I ran a music shop 20 years ago we had a rack of 300 right hand guitars and 3 left handed. As a left handed guitarist you haven’t got a hope.

The guitar lessons will be the right way round.

All the guitar books and online guitar lessons are set up for right handed people. You can  learn to play right handed. The guitar was right handed so I played right handed.
